Staffordshire Sangha
“Awareness is a Mirror…”
We practice Zen Buddhism following the teachings of Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh, with an emphasis on the development of mindfulness.
Our Sangha was first established in March 2010. We are a small Sangha with a regular core group.
We meet at 10 a.m. on the first and third Sunday of each month at a member’s house in Fairoak, about five miles NW of Eccleshall. Our meetings are fairly informal, starting with a hot drink on arrival then thirty minutes of meditation preceded by a reading of one of the mindfulness trainings. This is followed by refreshments and discussion that arises, and then a further thirty minutes of meditation. Our meditation sessions are sometimes guided and sometimes silent. Our sessions normally last about two hours.
We hold days of mindfulness once every three months. These normally include two meditation sessions, dharma discussion, a country walk (including skipping practice), a shared lunch and an informal tea ceremony with ‘entertainment’. The day normally runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Details of the dates of our future mindfulness days, together with some photographs of our past ones, are posted on our website: www.staffs-coi.org.uk
