Compassionate Cooking is about preparing great food, with loving kindness. That makes it taste so good! Our aim is to enable participants to enjoy cooking recipes that are: compassionate, easy to prepare and affordable. With the ability to tick lots of ethical boxes along the way: Animal Free, Dairy Free, Gluten Free (where possible), Local Produce, Organic, Fairly Traded, Reduced Packaging, and hardly any processing. Combining all of the above with the retreat experience of engaged mindfulness though the practice of the Interbeing tradition of Plum Village.

This is the first retreat of the international Mindful Artists Network. Are you a writer, musician, filmmaker, performer, visual artist, storyteller, dancer, art therapist, journalist, or work in some other art form? Are you looking for a way to ground your art in a mindful, sustainable, spiritual practice? You are invited to come together for a weekend of meditation, creative exploration, reflection and community building.

We will slow down and come home to our body and breath by practicing sitting, walking and eating meditation together. Simple movement practices, Deep Relaxation, periods of silence and time spent outdoors will all be part of this retreat. Playful exercises including sound, music, images and natural materials will encourage creative exploration and connection amongst participants across art forms.

Another focus will be on reflection: How can Buddhist ethics be integrated into our work? What kinds of seeds do we water as artists in the collective consciousness of our society? Building sangha and strengthening connections amongst creative practitioners is one of the aims of this retreat, and there will be room for sharing and networking.

If you attended Nottingham Retreats in 2010 and 2012, you will remember receiving a lovely little booklet called ‘How to Enjoy Your Practice’. It proved so popular that people requested more copies and it very quickly sold out. In response to that demand, a new version has been produced which has been adapted for daily use, rather than only on Retreat, for Sanghas and newcomers to the practice.

The price is £2.50 + £1.00 postage and packing, making the cost for each booklet £3.50. If people want large quantities, we can negotiate a lower price.
