at Sheldon Retreat Centre, Nr Dunsford, Devon.

The fifth Dharma Training Programme run by the UK Community of Interbeing started in October 2011. It is intended for anyone with some experience of the practice, as taught by Thich Nhat Hanh, who wishes to develop their understanding further and to share it with others. The programme will allow us to deepen our understanding of the Buddha’s teachings, and the practice of mindfulness in the context of a series of retreats with a committed sangha. Because we practise for each other, and ourselves the solid base we build together will give us the stability, joy and confidence to go out and share the fruits of this understanding with the wider community. Sangha members are encouraged to come to all 5 of the retreats, although it is possible to attend and benefit from a single retreat. Participants are expected to be members of the UK Community of Interbeing (pay a membership fee to the Community of Interbeing and receive the members’ magazine ‘Here and Now’) or to join at the time of registration.

Carol and Teri invite you to join them at the Being Peace cottage and New Barn field centre for a weekend of fooling around mindfully!

As a performer Teri took her clown to the stage! She says, “Clowning around on a stage and the art of stopping, calming and breathing quietly may not appear to be obvious partners but it very soon became clear that awareness of breathing, being present to what is in the moment, knowing how to listen and to feel what is happening around us are common to both clown and meditator…

“…The quest to find one’s inner clown does not necessarily lead to taking to the stage. It is a journey of self-discovery, building confidence, awareness and simply regaining the ability to see life with an innocence and openness that are present in the child but that are often slowly eroded as we grow into adults.”

Course cost is £180.00 including tuition, shared accommodation and meals.

For further information and to book on the weekend please contact:

The Wild Geese Sangha warmly invites you to join us on our

Spring retreat from Thursday 12th to Sunday 15th May 2011

guided by monastics from Plum Village.

Booking Form : Wiston monastics retreat 12-15May2011

The retreat will draw on the inspiration of verse 46 of the 50

verses of Thich Nhat Hanh’s commentary on the Nature of

Consciousness (from the book Understanding our Mind).

Through Thay’s guidance on mindfulness of body, mind, feelings

and objects of mind we will explore by meditation the

compassionate power of mere recognition; giving rise to

healing, acceptance, integration and non identification.

With reflection and meditation we will have the opportunity to discuss our

feelings, practice deep listening, and respond to Thay’s teaching. We will also

practice mindful walking, silent meditation and periods of noble silence.

You are also invited to bring poetry and short pieces of writing that inspire and

move you to share.

Participants may wish to read the book: Thich Nhat Hanh Understanding Our
